Typically you can ask WP to email you a new password. However, what do you do if your email is not working? Use phpMyAdmin to change your password.
- You will need to login to your host’s cPanel and access phpMyAdmin. You will also need to know what the name of your mysql database. Use your web host’s file manager view/edit your wp-config.php file to see that.
- Locate your password in phpMyAdmin by clicking on the database you identified above. Click on the wp-users table to see a list of users registered to this site. Find the user_pass field and delete the encrypted password you see there. You will need to replace that with a new encrypted password.
- How do you get a new encrypted password? Visit md5online.org and enter a secure password that you are not to forget there. Save your database and then head back to your WP site to login with your new password.
